Stephanie Page works for the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) who is a government agency, funded by Oregon tax payers with goals of  maintaining food safety, consumer protection and conserving the natural resource base.

Usefulness:

This interview was useful for addressing my should question, because it directly addressed the question of whether incentives could effectively increase sustainable agriculture. Stephanie Page is was a great source for information because, as the renewable energy expert for the ODA, she works to promote incentives programs to local agricultural producers and processors. In addition to offering her expert opinion, she gave background on several existing program like the Environmental Incentive Program (EQIP), and outlined new incentive plans that have not yet been implemented. Stephanie made the argument that incentive programs have worked in the past and will continue to be a key factor in promoting sustainable agriculture nation wide. She also said that all agriculture producers and processors can take steps to be more sustainable, the obstacles are in funding and compliance.
