Title: Obama Excites Sustainable and Organic Farmers (MNN.com/rshreeves, 2009)
Summary:
On Feb, 25th 2009, Robin Reeves posted and article on her blog about, newly appointed agricultural secretary, Kathleen Merrigan. Obama’s choice for agricultural secretary has excited the organic farming community because Kathleen Merrigan has a long history of supporting sustainable agriculture. However, there are still doubts to whether she and, current agricultural head, Tom Vilsack can work effectively.

Usefulness:
This source was useful because it offered both a news story and citizen commentary, which gave me a look into what bloggers had to say about agricultural legislation. This blog was well linked with a variety of outside sources, which helped with my research. The website the blog was posted is relatively new, but still effective in conveying relevant information and linking related news stories. This post leaves out what Barack Obama had to say about the dynamic between Tom Vilsack and Kathleen Merrigan. It also neglected to mention what Kathleen Merrigan’s mission statement for her time in office. It would have been helpful to include her goals and intentions for her new position. Obama’s Agenda on Rural America compliments article, and offers context to how the new administration is moving forward on its promises to improve America’s agriculture industry.
