OFN ( Organic Food-Now) references surveys done by The Alberta report in an attempt to draw a consensus about who is exactly is buying organic foods in today’s U.S. market. A report questioning the integrity of today’s organic food industry done by Canadian Geographic is mentioned to offer criticism to the increasing trend of “going organic.” Alberta Department of Agriculture was cited in order to define “organic agriculture.”

Usefulness:
This blog was useful because the reports and research contained in it offer important insight into the level of demand for organic food in the U.S. The level of organic demand is very important to answering my should question because it directly dictates whether incentives are needed to motivate farmers to go organic and/or sustainable. This source is coming from a liberal stand point that neglects to mention the financial ramifications of the organic revolution. How Much Poison do You Want to Eat? (Feb, 9th 2009) does a good job of confronting the issue of buying organic from all angles. They define “organic,” then they offer arguments both for and against purchasing organic foods. How Much Do You Know About Pesticides and Your Food? (Tisher, 2009) uses an interactive on-line quiz to confront and inform on many of the same issues as this source.
